EV Charging at home
We install domestic EV Chargers within a 35 mile radius of CV1 2TT.
Electric vehicle drivers usually choose a dedicated home charging point because it’s faster and has built-in safety features. It also allows users to take advantage of charging the vehicle overnight on cheap night-time rates and therefore ensuring the car’s battery is full each morning for the day ahead.
How fast can you charge your car at home?
Charging speed for electric cars is measured in kilowatts (kW).
Home charging points charge your car at 3.7kW or 7kW giving about 15-30 miles of range per hour of charge, compared to 2.3kW from a 3-pin plug which provides up to 8 miles of range per hour.
A typical electric car (60kWh battery) takes just under 8 hours to charge from empty-to-full with a 7kW charging point, however most drivers top up charge rather than waiting for their battery to recharge from empty to full.
Rapid chargers are the fastest way to charge your electric vehicle, providing between 60-200 miles of range in 20-30 minutes. Note that almost all electric cars can rapid charge, however most plug-in hybrid vehicles cannot.
EV Charger Installation
EV charging points need to be professionally installed. The installation process involves wall mounting the charge point on an exterior wall or garage, near to the parking space and connecting it safely to the mains electricity supply.
Installation should take around 3 hours to complete, depending on the individual requirements of the driver and the complexity of the installation.
