The offer

A battery that
pays you back.

Axle Energy is a battery export platform that pools UK batteries into a Virtual Power Plant. When the grid is under stress, Axle briefly dispatches your battery to export power and currently pays £1/kWh for every unit exported during those events. In between, you use your battery as you always have.

Pair it with Octopus Agile Outgoing, a half-hourly export tariff from Octopus Energy, and your battery can earn in two ways: half-hourly export prices day to day, plus grid-stress payments when Axle calls on it. What you earn depends on your battery, your usage and the rates at the time.

Synergy Power specifies and installs a compatible battery, commissions it with your smart meter and helps you sign up to both platforms. Axle states there are no hidden fees and no lock-in.

How it works

You keep control of your battery while earning £1/kWh during grid stress periods, with a minimum of £10/month under Axle’s current terms.

  1. 1. You control your schedule

Manage your battery however you like: manually, with Home Assistant or with any other system. It runs on your terms throughout the day.

  2. 2. Your battery responds

During brief periods of grid stress, Axle dispatches your battery to export power to the grid. Outside these events, you stay in full control.

  3. 3. You get paid

Axle pays £1/kWh for every unit exported during grid events, with a minimum of £10/month under its terms. Payments are made to your account automatically.
