Solar inverter replacement,
diagnosed first.

We diagnose failed or end-of-life inverters, replace them like-for-like or with an upgraded unit, and recommission the system. We check compatibility with your panels, batteries and monitoring for each system rather than assuming it. Systems of every size, whoever installed them.

01. Who this page is for

When the inverter stops,
the whole system stops.

This page is for anyone responsible for a solar system whose inverter has failed, is showing faults or is reaching the end of its working life: homeowners, businesses, landlords, schools, agricultural sites and public estates, whether we installed the system or another contractor did.

We diagnose the fault first, on site and through monitoring data, so we don’t replace an inverter when the problem lies elsewhere. Then we replace the inverter like-for-like or, where appropriate, with an upgraded unit, reconnect the monitoring and recommission the system.

We check compatibility with your panels, batteries and monitoring for each system rather than assuming it, including where the replacement comes from a different manufacturer to the one originally fitted.

02. Fault response & repairs

When something stops,
we find out why.

Inverter replacement is part of our wider fault response and repairs service.

Fault finding

We diagnose the cause on site and through monitoring data before any repair begins.

Inverter replacement

Failed or end-of-life inverters replaced like-for-like or with an upgraded unit, then recommissioned.

String repairs

We repair any damaged or underperforming strings, connectors and cabling found during diagnosis.

Emergency call-outs

For faults that stop the system generating or need urgent attention.

03. How it works

From fault report
to a working system.

Step 01

Report the fault

Tell us about the system: its size, who installed it, the inverter and what the monitoring or display is showing.

Any installer
Step 02

Diagnose

We find the fault on site and through monitoring data, confirming the cause before anything is replaced.

Fault confirmed
Step 03

Specify the replacement

Like-for-like or, where appropriate, an upgraded unit, once we have confirmed it works with your panels, batteries and monitoring.

Step 04

Replace

Our in-house engineers replace the inverter and reconnect it to the array, any battery and the monitoring.

Recommission

We test and recommission the system and restore monitoring, with planned maintenance available afterwards.

05. O&M enquiry

Enquire about
inverter replacement.

Tell us about the system: its size, who installed it, the inverter and any known faults. We'll come back to you about diagnosis and replacement.

06. Inverter FAQs

Inverter
questions answered.

Still have a question?0330 043 1047
Can you replace an inverter from a different manufacturer?

Inverter replacement is one of our O&M services. We check compatibility with your existing equipment for each system rather than assuming it.

Do you work on systems installed by other companies?

Yes. We provide O&M for solar PV systems of all sizes, whoever originally installed them. We record the condition of the system before any work begins.

How do I know my inverter has failed?

Common signs are a blank display, a fault or error code, warning lights, or monitoring showing little or no generation in daylight. Some faults sit elsewhere in the system, which is why we diagnose before replacing anything.

How much does an inverter replacement cost?

It depends on the system and the unit it needs, so each replacement is quoted for your system after diagnosis.

Can I upgrade to an inverter that works with a battery?

Where appropriate, we can fit an upgraded unit rather than a like-for-like replacement. If you are thinking about adding battery storage, tell us when you enquire so compatibility is checked as part of the specification.

Does the DNO need to know about a new inverter?

It can, for example where the inverter capacity changes. Smaller systems are usually notified under G98, while larger systems may need a G99 application before connection. We handle the paperwork.

How quickly can you respond to a fault?

We don't publish fixed response times. Emergency call-outs are part of our fault response and repairs service, and we agree response arrangements with you for your asset.

Who maintains the system afterwards?

Our Operations & Maintenance division can, with planned maintenance, fault response and repairs, insurance repair works, mechanical solar panel cleaning, inverter replacement and monitoring, for systems we installed and for systems installed by other contractors.
