Solar carport EV charging,
powered from the canopy above.

Vehicles already park under a solar carport, so it is the natural place to charge them. We integrate charge points with the canopy array and the site supply for fleet, staff and visitor charging.

01. EV charging integration

Charge vehicles
where they already park.

Because the electricity is generated where vehicles park, a solar carport pairs naturally with EV charging. Charge points at the bays can draw power from the solar panels directly above, topped up from the grid when generation is low.

Charge points are integrated with the carport’s solar PV system and the site supply, and with battery storage where project scope includes it, so solar, battery and EV charging work as one connected system. Load management can be designed in so charging works within the capacity of your supply.

Ducting for EV charging cables is installed as part of the groundworks, so the cabling is planned in from the start rather than added afterwards. That makes it simpler to start with a few charge points and add more as your fleet, staff or visitor demand grows.

Still have a question?0330 043 1047
How do EV chargers work with the canopy?

Charge points are integrated with the canopy array and the site supply, and with battery storage where project scope includes it.

Can we add more chargers later?

Ducting for EV charging cables is installed as part of the groundworks. We’ll discuss future charging needs at feasibility stage.

What happens when the sun is not shining?

The charge points stay connected to the site supply, so vehicles can still charge from the grid, or from battery storage where the project includes it, when the canopy is generating little or nothing.

Will EV charging overload our electricity supply?

We check grid and site capacity at feasibility. Where needed, load-managed charging shares the available capacity between charge points, and any grid application is made before connection.

Are you an approved EV charger installer?

Yes. We are an OZEV approved installer. We can tell you at feasibility stage whether any current government grant schemes may apply to your site.

Who maintains the chargers?

Our Operations & Maintenance division can look after the structure, the array, the storage and the chargers.
