Solar carport battery storage,
so the sun works later.

A solar carport generates most during the day. Battery storage integrated with the canopy array and the site supply holds that daytime generation for use later in the day, where your project scope includes it.

01. Battery storage integration

Store what the canopy
generates.

A solar carport generates most when the sun is up, which does not always match when your site uses electricity. Battery storage can hold surplus daytime generation for use later on – in your buildings or at the charge points underneath – rather than exporting it to the grid.

Storage is integrated with the carport’s solar PV system and the site supply, so solar, battery and EV charging can work as one connected system. We include the battery in the electrical design and in any G99 application to the DNO from the start.

Storage is not always part of a carport. We include it where the way your site uses electricity makes it worthwhile, and your feasibility study models whether it does, so you can decide with the figures in front of you.

Carport battery storage
questions answered.

Still have a question?0330 043 1047
Is battery storage always part of a carport?

No. We include storage where the way your site uses electricity makes it worthwhile, and your feasibility study models whether it does.

Can the battery supply our EV chargers?

Storage and charge points are integrated with the canopy array and the site supply, so they can work as one connected system.

How do you decide whether storage is worthwhile?

Your feasibility study compares the carport’s expected generation with your site’s electricity use, based on your bills and demand. If much of the generation would otherwise be exported, storage may make sense; if the site uses it all during the day, it may not.

Can a battery be added after the carport is built?

Usually, yes. Compatibility is checked at the design stage, and we can size the electrical design and ducting so storage can be added later without major rework.

Does a battery affect the grid application?

It can. Batteries and inverters above the threshold need a G99 application to the DNO before connection, so we include any planned storage in the application from the outset.

Who maintains the battery?

Our Operations & Maintenance division can look after the structure, the array, the storage and the chargers.
