Tesla Powerwall installation,
by our own team.

Synergy Power is a Tesla Powerwall certified installer. We design and install Powerwall 3 home batteries with new or existing solar, set up backup at commissioning, and look after the system afterwards with our in-house UK team.

01. Who this page is for

One home energy system,
not a battery bolted on.

This page is for homeowners considering a Tesla Powerwall, either to pair with solar panels already on the roof or as part of a new solar and battery installation. Synergy Power is a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer, alongside our MCS, RECC and TrustMark credentials, and our own engineers install every Powerwall 3 system.

We treat battery storage as part of your home’s whole energy system, not a stand-alone product bolted on to whatever you already have. The Powerwall, a backup gateway where needed, Powerwall 3’s built-in solar inverter for a new array or AC coupling for a retrofit, and the monitoring are all designed together.

Every installation is MCS-registered and covered by RECC. Powerwall 3 can work with time-of-use tariffs such as Octopus Flux, Agile, Cosy or Intelligent Octopus Go once you have switched tariff with your supplier.

02. What a Powerwall does

Store the sun, cover the evening,
back up the home.

Self-consumption

Use the solar you generate when you need it. A home battery covers your evening demand, so you export less at low rates by day and import less at higher rates in the evening.

Tariff optimisation

Charge on cheaper overnight rates and run the house from the battery through the peak, using the Tesla app with the tariff you choose.

Backup power

With a backup gateway, an automatic transfer switch can keep the whole home, or the circuits you choose, running when the grid goes down.

03. How it works

From feasibility study
to a commissioned Powerwall.

Step 01

Free feasibility study

Send us a recent electricity bill. A UK engineer sizes the battery against your consumption and gives you a savings forecast and indicative return.

Step 02

Home survey

Our own engineer checks the roof, consumer unit, cable routes and where the battery and gateway will go.

Step 03

Design

We use Powerwall 3’s built-in solar inverter or AC coupling to suit your solar and specify the backup gateway where needed.

Step 04

Installation

Our MCS-certified team installs, tests and commissions the Powerwall, gateway and connections.

06. Powerwall FAQs

Your Powerwall
questions answered.

Still have a question?0330 043 1047
Does a Powerwall give me backup power?

It can. With the backup gateway, Tesla Powerwall 3 can provide whole-home backup and switches over automatically when the grid goes down. Where whole-home backup is not suitable, we can design for partial-load backup instead.

Do I need solar first?

Not necessarily. A battery on its own can still pay its way by shifting your usage to off-peak rates. Solar and a battery together give the best result, but a battery alone makes sense for many UK homes.

How big should my battery be?

That depends on your daily consumption, the size of your solar array and your tariff. Our design team works it out from your actual meter data as part of the free assessment.

What tariffs work with a Powerwall?

Time-of-use tariffs such as Octopus Flux, Cosy Octopus and Intelligent Octopus Go. You switch tariff with your energy supplier yourself, and as an Octopus Energy Trusted Partner we can give you the information you need.

Do I get 0% VAT on a Powerwall?

Currently, yes, for homes in Great Britain. Under HMRC's energy-saving materials relief, battery storage installed in residential accommodation is zero-rated until 31 March 2027, whether it is fitted with new solar or added to an existing system.

Can a Powerwall be added to my existing solar panels?

Usually, yes. Powerwall 3 can be AC coupled to most existing solar systems, including ones we did not install. We check compatibility with your inverter and consumer unit at survey.

Do I need DNO approval for a Powerwall?

Smaller systems are usually connected and then notified to your Distribution Network Operator under G98. Larger systems need a G99 application approved before connection. We confirm which applies to your installation at design stage and handle the paperwork.
